It was a pleasure to have lunch here. The burger was very good, as was the duck breast with salad, although there was a bit too much onion, in my personal opinion. Parking on weekends is free
Great coffee shop. So beautiful and the coffee was so good. It is located inside the National Library in Canberra. They offer plenty of seats and work spaces so there were many customers work and study there but not too noisy. Very friendly staff with high quality of food and drink.
A lovely setting for breakfast, brunch or lunch within the beautiful National Library building. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. My crumbed chicken burger was just okay but the beef pie and pumpkin and quinoa salad were apparently very good as was the focaccia. Coffees were all pretty good too. Great central location to meet up with friends and usually plenty of ‘expensive’ parking.
We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Bookplate, nestled within the national library, and it was a delight for both the senses. I ordered their oat cappuccino and it was rich, robust, and brewed to perfection. Their orange glazed duck breast with salad was succulently bathed in citrus notes, although the portion seemed a tad petite in relation to the price. My favourite was the falafel bowl, a vibrant tapestry of flavours and textures. The crispy falafel orbs stood out among a medley of Mediterranean delights like the tangy pickled cabbage, nutty chickpeas and rich hummus. They will be closed for renovation in February and March, and we look forward to coming back after their reopening in April.
I can only speak to the coffee. From memory, it was Campos and they did a great job at it (from there I went to Questacon - so a nice caffeine hit before going next door).
The atmosphere was good - if I lived local, I can see this place being a usual hang.
Not sure if the food is halal here - will have to check again next time - though I'm sure they'd at least cater to vegetarians.
The staff could not have been more helpful and were very kind accommodating our group at short notice when it grew from 5 to 7 people. There were a range of dietary requirements in our group that were all catered for through the menu choices. The surroundings were beautiful and comfortable and the acoustics made it easy for my elderly mother to hear the conversation in our largish group. The gorgeous flowers on every table were perfect. I look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
The Bookplate is an excellent spot for grabbing a coffee and eating a meal. I had a short long black and it was perfect. They have a good selection of sandwiches, main meals, cakes, and slices. The cafe is surrounded by beautiful and colourful pane glass windows. It is just inside the National Library. It had plenty of room inside and out. It does take away and eat in. I have visited numerous times and have never been disappointed.
Great spot for a quick bite, even when they are busy. Staff are really accommodating. We came in after they closed the kitchen but they still did toasties for us. I like that they have a water station well stocked and that you can grab your own.
The carrot cake was excellent. The cream cheese frosting on that cake is worth every penny, and the tea is loose leaf which is great.
